He is still behind her. She can hear him. Leaves rustling. Twigs snapping. She picks up the pace. Uphill. Chest tight, legs burning. Footsteps behind her. She turns right. Listens carefully. Is he taking a right? He is taking a right. An overgrown path on her left. Less travelled. Muddy ground, slowing her down. The sound of someone squelching through mud behind her. Another left. Not even a real path this time. Thicket. Thorny plants pricking her legs. A thick tree trunk. Perfect for hiding. He passes her. Finally. She has had to pee for the past thirty minutes.

Great build up, Sally! And, I can feel the relief at the end 😉

I felt the relief both at the ending and for her relief. Droves of sympathy. Comments are closed.
