Arms folded, Sandra leant against the fridge.
“You’re being unreasonable,” Jack retorted, slapping the kitchen table.
Sandra inhaled deeply, closing her eyes to encourage happy thoughts. Recalling their wedding day, the birth of their twins.
“Please,” Jack begged, his footsteps soft on the tiles as he approached.
Sandra felt the weight of his hand on her shoulder before shrugging it off.
“Are you listening? I said no.”
Jack huffed and raised his hands in defeat.
“Fine. You win this time. As always.”
Sighing with relief, Sandra retrieved the box from the fridge and ate the last chocolate.
