“Beep.” He hits stop, taking a moment to stretch then discards his pajamas. Too early for the sun to greet him, he pulls into the coffee shop. He clocks in at four-twenty-five; the smell of coffee lifts his spirits, yet he wouldn’t have any until break. The shop opens, putting him on the drive-through. Idle talks and he’s handed twenty to pay it forward. He debates slipping it into the tip jar but follows the customer’s wishes. Morning melts into afternoon and he returns home to his computer. The empty document looms, he repeats to himself, “It’s only a draft”.

Have a cup of coffee then that draft will begin to fill with words.

Hopefully, some of the customers will inspire some stories. And a cup of coffee!

I can relate to “the empty document,” and the need for coffee! Well done. Comments are closed.
