Three hours into a five-hour journey, Karl started thinking about Hannah, his first love, the most intense of his relationships; the laughter, the sex, the arguments; it had ended badly. He’d barely thought of her in twenty years, so why now? Why did he have tears in his eyes? For a moment he could smell her perfume, close, closer, next to him. An echo of yesterdays, so long ago.

This parking bay was filled with the perfume of ESP, but their meeting wasn't meant to be.
