Marie teared up as she looked at the brightening and dimming colors of the Gold Finch perched on her balcony. She closed her eyes as her hands moved over the keys of the piano. Her Sicilienne sounded better with her eyes closed, perhaps a bit more painful than it was meant to be. Her world inside her rooms and outside the balcony glittered and blurred as she tried to take in all the colors. She did not have much time. Marie needed her brain to capture the brilliance of mother nature before she was fully taken by retinitis pigmentosa.

It must be so hard to know that you are slowly going bling. One would want to imprint as many images as possible on your mind.

True. This is a condition that has no cure yet unlike Glacoma and Cataract which can be cured by laser surgery. Thank you so much for reading, Jennifer.

Capturing the colours of the world before going blind; devastation. Perhaps registering the colours while she played will allow the sound of music to retain the colours for her.

Hopefully she would get some solace from that. Thank you for commenting on this, Sue

The impending blindness has made her catch the brilliance of all colours. A very touching story beautifully told, Padmini.

How sad to have one’s vision disappear after experiencing the beauty of nature. As far as I know, it’s a genetic disorder. Luckily, not in my family. However, macular degeneration is.

Yes, the worst thing is to have it taken away from you after you have experienced the best of nature. Sorry to know that there is macular degeneration in your family. Hope you are going for eye check-ups frequently. And thanks a lot for commenting, Krystyna. Comments are closed.
