The ringing in my ears drums through my head in the eerie silence. I hold my breath waiting for the monster to pass by. I see the shadow stretch across in front of me as I slink my body as far away as possible. The monster outside stops, tilting its head, pausing to turn for just a moment before it continues on. The rifle in its hands adjusts as it passes by and finally departs. I shiver from the cold as my wet saturated fur catches the night freezing breeze from outside the cave as I hide from the hunter.

This story made me feel sorry for the critter.

The other side of hunting. Poor thing.
