Undeserved, by Don Tassone

Last fall, I found a packet of wildflower seeds in my garage. I went out back, tore it open and sprinkled the seeds over a bare spot along the fence.

I was in a hurry that day. I didn’t rake the soil or water. The packet of seeds was old, and I knew it was a long shot that I’d see any flowers anyway. At least the birds will eat, I thought.

I forgot all about those seeds until this spring, when I looked out my window one morning and saw a splash of purple, yellow, blue, white and red.

Nature has been so generous to us. I also want to see it as you reap what you sow, no matter. Loved this, Don!

First, thank you, Don, for keeping us thinking. This is material for a homily...like the prodigal son. We didn’t earn one of the gifts we receive. They are given out of love. Happy New Year!

It's interesting how some things we do without much thought end up blessing us a lot.

I'm not sure I can add much to the wonderful comments already here - but this does call for us to take a moment to be thankful for the little unexpected things in life.
Lovely

Nature is so bountiful. The story makes us introspect. Well written, Don.

Perhaps the barren ground of the old year will bring forth some seeds of hope to colour the new year.

I guess you send your write-ups to many different publications and forget all about them until some day some of them splashed across the page somewhere take you by surprise the way the riot of colour all over your fence you perchance see one fine morning does!
