Suddenly, I thought I caught a glimpse of a sleigh and heard the jingle of bells at a neighbor’s place. We tried to be nice, not naughty kids; Santa should come to our apartment next with gifts, but we had no chimney. How would he arrive? Would Dad let him in?
Christmas Eve, our stockings were hung neatly on dresser knobs. Sleeping with one eye open, I saw Dad tiptoe into our bedroom and fill stockings. He was doing Santa’s work but why? Hadn’t Santa already left the department store and shopping mall? Did Rudolph’s red nose stop glowing?
Suddenly, I thought I caught a glimpse of a sleigh and heard the jingle of bells at a neighbor’s place. We tried to be nice, not naughty kids; Santa should come to our apartment next with gifts, but we had no chimney. How would he arrive? Would Dad let him in?
