In the summer of 1955, my father helped grandpa dig a leaching septic system and install a toilet in a closet of their four-room farmhouse. All the neighbors visited to see this wonder of indoor plumbing. More city-relatives turned up on weekends and holidays, including our family of eight. The Christmas visit was the best time for us kids with at least a dozen sharing a wall-to-wall bed on the floor by the tree. We never understood how Santa could arrive, deliver presents with us all guarding the tree, and we never saw him. That was a true miracle.

Children and Christmas miracles go hand in hand. Sweet story.

Another great present delivered that all those kids never saw; sharing a bed and Christmas time. And thankfully they had a decent toilet. Comments are closed.
