Embracing self-isolation requires a new totem. Moving slowly, or not at all for long periods. Sitting clutched in a chair hunched over a computer as if he were clinging to a branch. Fingers slowly tapping the keyboard as though grasping bark. Suspended between inaction and repose. His new totem is the sloth. He’d like to do better than that.
He always thought of himself as a tiger. Leaping into each day with a bound. Seizing the moment as though clutching prey. Stalking the world, alert for any opportunity, ready to spring into any new venture with feline power and agility.
