Dinner Date, by Dan Keeble

6/11/2020

He pulled her close and kissed her neck. She giggled unashamedly. The maitre d’ waved a finger in disapproving pretence. Her skirt was too short and heels too high. His loud casual trousers said yesterday. They were blind to the amusement of the other diners. Daniel gazed into her chestnut eyes, and she revelled in his intimate attention. Kate spooned ice-cream seductively into his mouth, and he played footsie under the table.

‘Back to my place tonight?’ she laughed loudly.

Reliving that first date from forty years ago showed their marriage had not lost its sense of humour and love.

This is cute, and heartwarming. I hope they get to do this again in another forty years.
Thanks
Jim

Lovely - a heartwarmer AND a giggle. Who could ask for more?

Years ago, we had a couple relive their first date at our restaurant; it was interesting recreating recipes from the early 60s and trying to find Chianti wine in those bottles with the wicker bottom.
This story was a fun reminder of that night.

Another twist ending--and a delightful one, indeed.

Stories of long-term love always warm my heart. Shows there's still life left in the institution.

I'm a bit of a cinic, but I still loved this.
