The parliamentarians were debating where the new statues should be erected and which statesmen should be honoured. Many names were recommended. Members tongue lashed each other around the virtues that the public servants represented. An upstart was appointed for the portfolio, Minister of Memorials, but the older and venerated officials did not trust the appointee.
