Kathleen sighed, remembering the futility of it all. She went home.
It was only one year ago that her daughter Jami died. Now Kathleen was sitting on a hard bench looking out at the Pacific Ocean, remembering good times and bad. Jami had lived an amazing first twenty-two years, but the last four had been a daily struggle trying to save her daughter from the drugs. Rehab didn’t work for long. Abandoned by friends, there had been times Jami had been homeless. Three times the doctors in the ICU warned Jami that she would die if she didn’t stop using.
Kathleen sighed, remembering the futility of it all. She went home.

Happy 22 vs Sad 4; happy wins but still a sad little tale.

Sad, but true...this happened to my neighbor and is happening all over the country.
