The three of them talked awhile. After Susan left, Joe turned to Eli and asked, “Who was that?”
“An ex of mine.”
“I don’t recall your mentioning anyone that cool and hot.”
“Maybe it wasn’t your business, asshole.”
“I’m interested. Give me her number.”
“No.”
“Why? She’s an ex, right?”
“Maybe, but she shouldn’t waste time on a jerkoff like you.”
“Isn’t that her decision?”
“Well, she’s trying to keep her numbers down.”
“What’s that mean?”
“She wants to stay in double figures. All of them up to now are critiqued, rated, and documented in a journal.”
“Hmm.”
