Sholom turned his head sideways to gaze at the moon. It had eyes and a twisted mouth like a petulant child, never happy, always demanding. Roma never saw a face in the moon; she always saw a pair of men working on a sawmill, saving for later. Sholom patted the empty space beside him. Lucky Roma!
