I drove over to her place, winnowing my announcement to three phrases: a haiku. The sky began to darken. I parked across the street from her house as the clouds opened and a summer downpour began. It was like being in a car wash.
I was clutching the steering wheel, waiting for it to stop, when she flew out of the house and got into her car. She backed down the driveway and drove off. The rain let up.
I went home.
