Still on a Christmas theme...

Reluctant to spend money needlessly, Gerald particularly resented Christmas as a drain on his resources. Now, his wife Jennifer had invited the entire family for dinner.

Concerned that refrigerator space was short, Jennifer wanted to buy a second one for the garage. Gerald had a better idea. He'd seen one in the local charity shop, and a few hours later it was safely installed and filled with a large turkey and all the trimmings.

On Christmas morning Gerald rose early to remove the bird and bring it up to room temperature, to discover that the fridge was actually a freezer...

This guy should visit the kind of flea markets I frequent, Gordon--where everything is clearly labeled; e.g., Abominable Snowman, Refrigerator, Patagonian Devil, Freezer, a bust of Uncle Henry, etc., etc. That way, his next Thanksgiving dinner should go over just fine...

Just at the moment, though, we're moderating some of them so there might be a slight delat before they appear.

Since Friday Flash Fiction began in September 2013, 100-word stories have remained its 'beating heart'.

Normally, 100-word stories are scheduled for 07.00 BST (GMT in the winter) on the following Friday. However, where a large number of stories (more than 25) are due to be published on the same day, we publish a second batch around 10.30am. On the rare occasions where there are more than 50 stories, we'll post an earlier set, probably around 5.00 UK time.
