Jack London was sitting in a travel agent’s office in Cusco (Peru), ancient Inca capital. While discussing places of attractions to visit, he heard the agent suggesting that he visit a nearby historic Inca-site known as “Sexy Woman”. Intrigued, he agreed and a local guide drove him there. Indeed, the ruins were impressive; the place once housed several thousands of people.
While returning, Jack loudly wondered how the place gotten such a modern name. His guide stopped the van and laughingly spelled out on a piece of paper the ancient Quechua name “Sacsayhumán,” that in English mnemonic pronunciation got modernized!
