The old lady screamed and pointed at a figure slowly melting into the crowd. “He stole my purse!”
A passerby tackled the man, and the old lady immediately beaned him with her umbrella, knocking him out.
“You’re a hero!” the old lady panted.
Her rescuer called 911 to report the crime, but when he turned back, the old lady was gone. There was only a young blonde woman with a large shopping bag turning the corner.
Checking the wallet the blonde had lifted from the unconscious man, she said, “$500 bucks. Not bad. Now to toss the wig and coat.”
