Marlene’s brother didn’t close the shop’s front door when he entered, which enabled Len to slip in. He searched and found the safe, broke it open using his skills and grabbed the cash and some diamonds in it. As he slipped out of the front door he walked straight into the hands of the police trap Martin and the detectives had set. As they cuffed Len he saw the smile on Martin’s face and realized Martin’s information about the money and diamonds in the safe was a trap. How dumb not to remember his mate Martin worked with the force.
