The day was calm with the setting sun’s rays rippling in the waves when Cate arrived on Rainbow Beach. She spread her towel on the hot sand and sprawled herself on it absorbing the heat radiating from the sand below and sun above. She soon fell into a deep trance, unaware of the premature darkening of the sky until she heard, “Lady, you’re the only soul left on the beach and tide is coming in fast; it’s time to leave.”
