The city was a COVID cesspool. Everywhere you went there were thousands of people drooling, sniveling…breathing your air, spewing it back.
So, I packed up and went country.
Still locked the door, though.
One day, I left it open.
No screen.
Hot.
And in walked Bambi.
Went straight for the cat’s water dish.
The cat lit out the door.
I opened a beer.
And waited.
The deer came to me.
Sniffed the bottle.
Mexican beer.
That was two weeks ago.
Deer’s still here.
The cat’s still missing.
And I’ve run out of beer.
