The report of “Active Shooter” came over the radio. The university was a mile away, but Officer Jim Jacobs was off-duty, having worked a full shift. He didn’t want to get caught up in an all-day affair. So he parked the squad car in his driveway and breathed easy. He was going to make dinner for his son who would be graduating high school next week. They were going to celebrate with his famous cheese balls tonight. It struck him then that his son was on the university campus, getting familiarized with the school he’d be attending in Autumn.
