I'm Here, by Pamela Kennedy

Don't they know I can hear them – their naughty as well as their nice comments? If they call upon saints to intercede on their behalf, why can't a common soul like mine listen to them?

What was that, Laura? Yes, I did it. Though I wasn't myself. My body was controlling my mind or my mind was controlling my body. Whichever. Cassie, it didn't hurt. I became numb, fell into a deep slumber, then woke up in my new environs.

Shh! Watch what you say...You can't see me but I am here and I can hear you.

I often wonder if those who have passed can see and hear us. God I hope not, Pamela.

I was terrified that the dead might be able to know what I was thinking. Good story Pamela.

Hope the narrator's new environment was better than her earthly one. Nicely written.

Was Lincoln in the Bardo by George Saunders in your mind when you wrote it, Pamela? Liked it much.

What is death? Do the the dead live after death? Your story says they do but differently.Your story says it wisely and beautifully.
Well done, Pamela.

Thank you, everyone. I am glad you found the story interesting. I am sorry to say, Swapan, that I haven't read Lincoln in the Bardo, but I am sure I would like it.
I hope all of you will have a wonderful week.
