It's All About Her, by Pamela Kennedy

10/7/2020

With Blair's failure to respond to her messages,  Karen assumed she was being ghosted. Hurt gave way to anger.

The next morning her mental rampage was still going strong when she turned on the news..."The body found at Pier 21 has been identified as 45-year old Blair Drummond, a hedge fund..."

Karen momentarily froze.  With a slight sense of remorse, she realized she didn't once show any concern for Blair.  All of her thoughts had been about her injured pride.

As the day progressed, she wondered what were Blair's final thoughts.  Were they tender thoughts about her?

Well done. I hope she never crossed his mind.

Without being preachy, Pamela, you make the reader come to grips with the prick of conscience; with the skeletons in the closet ...

It's all about her--even after her lover is gone. Talk about self-centered. Lot of story in a mere 100 words. Loved it.

Hope his ghost comes back to haunt her. A well-portrayed description of selfishness, Pamela.

    100-Word
    Stories

Since Friday Flash Fiction began in September 2013, 100-word stories have remained its 'beating heart'.

Normally, 100-word stories are scheduled for 07.00 BST (GMT in the winter) on the following Friday. However, where a large number of stories (more than 25) are due to be published on the same day, we publish a second batch around 10.30am.
Recently, we've welcomed a lot of newcomers and found that even two batches doesn't cover them all. Wherever that happens, we'll simply be publishing 'as and when' during the course of the day.

Each week we pick a story or (occasionally) a poem as 'Editor's Choice'.
It's a personal favourite, no more. Do you agree?
