Slowly as she recalled where she was the fear began to subside. As more moments passed she recollected things less vividly and as the warmth of her bed crept over her, it seemed to envelope her whole being in a protective blanket that took her mind even away further from last night’s terrible events.
From somewhere she awoke her mind still foggy with sleep. From nowhere the memories of her dreams crowded mercilessly into her head, savaging her confidence, making her feel small and vulnerable to all that the daylight brought.
Slowly as she recalled where she was the fear began to subside. As more moments passed she recollected things less vividly and as the warmth of her bed crept over her, it seemed to envelope her whole being in a protective blanket that took her mind even away further from last night’s terrible events.

Well told. A good description of how dreams persist -- and fade.
