Once Again, by Pamela Kennedy

9/10/2020

Moonlight and stars were just the appetizers to a most delicious evening.  Naturally, the main course featured a romantic entree of hugging, kissing, nestling, and snuggling.

How many decades ago was it when they lost their innocence to each other?  More than they wished to recall.  But tonight was different.  Their painful wounds were forgotten.   For tonight was a night of celebration and appreciation for their few precious hours of togetherness.

Another rendezvous was planned.  It couldn't come fast enough.  Time was slipping by and life was too short not to fall in love again.

Old lovers become new lovers in the short time left to them. Heart-warming and satisfying, Pamela.

Love eternal reigns over those who partake of its deep beauty.
Beautiful story, Pamela.

Loved the aphoristic ending. Well done, Pamela.

Romantic love is lovely. But their real love is what rode the crests and troughs. And that's the kind that lasts forever. Sweet reminder, Pamela.

True love lasts forever. Liked the description in the first two sentences.

Thankfully they were in a decade where they were still young enough to consummate their newfound love.

I don't normally comment on stories but I'm an old romantic, too, Pam. I love this. For those of you who live in foreign parts, there's a singer/songwriter called Ralph McTell here whose songs "Naomi" and "Summer Lightning" cover this ground. One for Spotify, if you can be bothered.

Thank you so much, Gordon. I really do appreciate your
commenting on my story.

    100-Word
    Stories

Since Friday Flash Fiction began in September 2013, 100-word stories have remained its 'beating heart'.

Normally, 100-word stories are scheduled for 07.00 BST (GMT in the winter) on the following Friday. However, where a large number of stories (more than 25) are due to be published on the same day, we publish a second batch around 10.30am.
Recently, we've welcomed a lot of newcomers and found that even two batches doesn't cover them all. Wherever that happens, we'll simply be publishing 'as and when' during the course of the day.

Each week we pick a story or (occasionally) a poem as 'Editor's Choice'.
It's a personal favourite, no more. Do you agree?
