Remembering, by Pamela Kennedy

27/11/2020

Remember so many years ago that awful misguided young woman nastily called you "a male chauvinist pig" just because you held the door open for her? How many little pleasures did she miss out on?

Well, thank you for being "my chauvinist pig" - for holding all those doors open for me, for helping me on and off with my coat, for giving up your seat for me, for picking up those restaurant tabs and giving me all those wonderful times.

Please be there to open the door for me when I cross over to your restful world. Thanks.

Here the narrator's appeal is so intensely passionate that it can't be ignored. He'll certainly be there at the end of the tunnel ...

The last word says it all. Well done, Pamela.

Being old-fashioned, I consider it my duty to open door for the fairer sex. I just think it's the right thing to do. I consider it a sign of respect. Your story seems to point this out as well. Liked it.

I agree with Swapan - her plea will not go unanswered, as he obviously carried her in his heart, as she does him now. Nicely done, Pamela.

Take care
Jim

Not only will he open the door for her he'll continue to show her wonderful times. Not chauvinistic but good old-fashioned manners; still appreciated by most women. Good story, Pamela.

He'll certainly be waiting for you. Beautiful story, Pamela.

You might have incurred some wrath from a few militant feminists, Pamela, but the rest of us are cheering and very grateful for all the doors that have been held open. Very well written :)

Thank you, Sue, Sivan, and Sandra for your comments...It's reassuring to know that manners still have meaning to some people. Have a good week!

Pamela,
She caught a winner. Too bad he had to leave her.

    100-Word
    Stories

Since Friday Flash Fiction began in September 2013, 100-word stories have remained its 'beating heart'.

Normally, 100-word stories are scheduled for 07.00 BST (GMT in the winter) on the following Friday. However, where a large number of stories (more than 25) are due to be published on the same day, we publish a second batch around 10.30am.

Each week we pick a story or (occasionally) a poem as 'Editor's Choice'.
It's a personal favourite, no more. Do you agree?
