Madge smiled as she watched her only daughter, dressed in her beautiful ivory gown, approach the altar.

What a catch! Real Estate agent Sam Henderson, the richest man in town. Madge was certain that after the couple were married, her new son-in-law would set her up with a prime property in the very best location. She would be set for life.

She didn’t have long to wait…as the happy couple left for their honeymoon, he pressed a long envelope into her hand. “Best view in town,” he grinned.

She opened it, revealing the deed to a plot on Cemetery Hill.

Since Friday Flash Fiction began in September 2013, 100-word stories have remained its 'beating heart'.

Normally, 100-word stories are scheduled for 07.00 BST (GMT in the winter) on the following Friday. However, where a larger number of stories (more than 25) are due to be published on the same day, we publish the later ones EARLIER around 4.00 am. On the rare occasions where there are more than 50 stories, we'll post an even earlier set, probably around 2.00 am UK time.
