I pull the bedcovers over my head to hide from the world, but someone’s tugging at them.
Go away! Leave me alone!
The tugging continues, exasperated I fling back the covers and come face to face with my own black dog.
’Taz, my darling boy.’ I say, ruffling his fur.
He leaps onto the bed, licks my face making me smile. He snuggles close, bringing light into my darkness.
Another black dog, but this one saved me.
