“Help me up,” Carl winced.
“You’re too heavy, an ambulance is on the way” I assured him.
Blue Jays on the tree limbs above us jeered a chorus of pump handle calls.
“The birds are saying, ‘Eat Now ‘. Every time I hear their song I eat… It’s why I weigh 500 pounds,” Carl lamented.
It took five men to lift Carl into an ambulance.
The next morning after breakfast, a Blue Jay perched on my kitchen’s window sill called out.
I ate two more Belgian waffles and six jelly donuts.
