Hurricane Yvonne swept through, uprooting trees and shrubs in its path, tossing cars across streets and onto sidewalks, and tearing roofs from walls. In some parts, entire buildings were left in perilous state. In the little town of Linksville in Jones County, Texas, no pane of glass survived, although miraculously – because everyone had taken precautions and hidden in their cellars – no-one was seriously hurt.
