Yadi grabbed a banana on her way out the door. Coach always advised a small snack before running. She got in her 2004 Beetle and headed to the trail. While still driving, she lowered the window and tossed the peel into the grass. A deer appeared out of nowhere. Yadi turned the wheel and crashed into an oak tree.
When she came to, she tried to open the door. The pain was excruciating. She had four broken ribs and would not run for eight weeks. The banana peel would remain undisturbed beneath the oak tree for the next two years.
