Linking their Contacts and Notifications to Facebook allowed everyone to harvest everyone else's data. Naturally that included sensitive economic and political information, and especially every detail of every country's defence and security systems.
This vulnerability opened the door for the true directors of social media to become invincible world rulers. Isolated on a Pacific island, and ignored for centuries, their inscrutable expressions absorbed all power but surrendered none.
