“Good night,” his wife said, turning out her light and rolling over.
“Good night,” he said.
He opened the book and began reading where he’d left off, but he couldn't remember what had happened in the previous chapter. Just as well. He’d lost interest in this story anyway.
He closed the book and thought about his job, how it bored him and how he dreaded going to work in the morning.
He reached over, put the book on his nightstand and turned out his light.
