The President and Prime Lady huddled in the bunker, waiting. The mob of violent citizens poured through the gates and surged toward the Presidential Palace.
"Your plan worked," said the Prime Lady, listening. But as yet they could not hear the angry crowd.
"Yes. Making them hate me was the only way. It united the country on the verge of collapse into anarchy, brought together disparate factions, made possible unity of action. Our nation can survive. But for us, it will be either death or expulsion--and I shall be the most vilified President in the history of our country!"
