Winged Palace, by Swapan K Banerjee

3/7/2020

Just as the bus entered Jodhpur, it broke down. The travellers were on their way to Jaisalmer from Abu.

The tourists ran helter-skelter for another means of transport which was scarce, it being season time. He sat his family at a restaurant, and went looking for a cab.

Taxi stand at Jodhpur Fort was swarming with people. Past the milling crowds, getting to the farthest corner, he suddenly became still.

Far away, a dreamy domed edifice, floating like a liner upon a sea of tender mist, across the teeming city underneath - the palace was calling him on and on.

" ... floating like a liner upon a sea of tender mist, across the teeming city underneath ..." Lovely imagery here.

Very great of you, Don, to zero in on the line I actually slaved over. Thank you indeed.
